Good morning, teacher, classmates and guests. I am Carmen Díaz. I’m in third grade of high school and I’m going to  celebratecomeeatgoknowparticipatepayremembertalktellsvisit about The Festival of La Beatita de Humay. Humay is small rural town 33 kilometers east from Pisco.

People  celebratecomeeatgoknowparticipatepayremembertalktellsvisit it twice a year, in June and November. In this festival, they  celebratecomeeatgoknowparticipatepayremembertalktellsvisit the birth and death of Luisa de la Torre Rojas, best known as “La Beatita de Humay” . “Beatita” means “blessed woman” and her history  celebratecomeeatgoknowparticipatepayremembertalktellsvisit us about a servant of god who was generous, kind and loving with people in need. So she is considered for her believers as a miracle woman.

People  celebratecomeeatgoknowparticipatepayremembertalktellsvisit in this festival in different ways. Most people  celebratecomeeatgoknowparticipatepayremembertalktellsvisit to Humay with great devotion and  celebratecomeeatgoknowparticipatepayremembertalktellsvisit La Beatitas’s home to  celebratecomeeatgoknowparticipatepayremembertalktellsvisit a promise for her blessings. Some others join in the traditional dance of “Negritos”, a mixed rhythm of andean and african roots. There is a local fair where tourits and visitors can  celebratecomeeatgoknowparticipatepayremembertalktellsvisit typical desserts like frejol colado and delicious Alfajores de Huancano. All in all, The festival of La Beatita de Humay is a great opportunity to  celebratecomeeatgoknowparticipatepayremembertalktellsvisit more about faith and local traditions.
