DIY PROJECT FOR APRENDO EN CASA: WRITING A BLOG ENTRY

RUNNING MY OWN BUSINESS AMID THE PANDEMIC

This unprecedented pandemic crisis has affected seriously many families and friends in my neighborhood of Maria Milagros. One of those cases is a neighbor who lives around the corner. He worked in well- known and expensive restaurant in the downtown of Pisco.

He used to be the head chef for almost 15 years in that restaurant. He was in charge of preparing the most exclusive and delicious menu every day until the government of Peru declared and imposed and strict lockdown of all schools, markets, gathering events and public places, including bars and restaurants.

"I used to think I  would never dare..." Tiberio said.

With no clients to support financially the business, the owner had no other choice but to close it down and dismiss all his workforce.

Under the pressure of having lost a stable job, this friend of mine thought his personal crisis could turn into an opportunity to take the risk of being his own boss and starting a small restaurant in our local community.

Investing his hard-own savings and with his family support for the decoration and service, he recently opened a little restaurant in his house garage. Tiberio said “I used to think that I would never dare to take the decisive step to run my own business, but now this crisis has taught me the hard way to believe in my own talent and resources”.

Last week, I ordered for delivery of one his cooking specialities of seafood and shellfish and I highly recommended his now homemade cuisine.
